About the Journal

Acta Musicologica (p-ISSN: 0001-6241 | e-ISSN: 2296-4339), managed and published by the International Musicological Society (IMS), is one of the world’s oldest and most renowned musicological journals. Emphasis is placed on methodological cooperation between all musicological sub-disciplines as well as on the integration of related fields. Contributions can be submitted at any time.

Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

Acta ensures the highest ethical and professional standards of scholarship. It follows the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the COPE Core Practices published by the Committee for Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal also adheres to the COPE Guidelines. In particular, the following practices are not accepted:

  • Misrepresentation (fabrication or falsification of data and inappropriate image manipulation)
  • Plagiarism (unreferenced use of published and unpublished ideas)
  • Duplicate and redundant publication (text recycling of the author's own work)
  • Copyright infringement

The following sanctions may be applied according to the severity of the infraction: The editors may publish a retraction, inform the author’s institution, and/or refuse to consider future work from the author.

Acta is committed to advancing sustained open access to musicological publications. Currently, the journal offers its authors a green open access policy. Therefore the authors’ articles are available for self-deposition from twelve months after the publishing dates (either June 15 or December 15 of the following year).
